Houston ISD 2012 Bond Program

Rice & Gardner was selected as a Program Manager for the 2012 HISD Facilities Capital Program with a budget scope of $528 Million. The program included renovations at 15 campuses which ranged from additions, to renovations, to upgrades and in several cases total replacement. Our services include:

• Prioritization and phasing of work
• Managing the design and construction contracts
• Working with the owner and A/E on planning, programming, design, cost estimating
• Adherence to program and budget requirements

Askew Elementary School
Scope: RGCI is providing Project Management services for the new construction of a full replacement of Askew Elementary School. This new facility will accommodate 850 students.

Delmar Stadium
Scope: RGCI is providing Project Management services for a new state-of-the-art 5,000 seat multi-purpose arena, for basketball and volleyball which will also include, athletic training rooms, and locker rooms, along with administrative offices and meeting rooms.

Dowling Middle School
Scope: RGCI is providing Project Management services for the new construction of a full replacement of Dowling Middle School. This new 21st century facility will accommodate 1,300 to 1,500 students.

Eastwood Academy
Scope: RGCI is providing Project Management services for the addition of a new 2-story classroom wing for Eastwood Academy. The new addition will accommodate 500 students.

Furr High School
Scope: RGCI is providing Project Management services for the new construction of a full replacement of Furr High School. This new 21st century facility will accommodate 1,100 to 1,300 students.

Garden Oaks Montessori
Scope: RGCI is providing Project Management services for the new addition and general renovations of the existing Garden Oaks Montessori. This new addition will accommodate 750-900 students.

High School for Law & Justice
Scope: RGCI is providing Project Management services for the new construction of High School for Law & Justice. This new 21st Century facility will accommodate 900 students.

Mark White Elementary School
Scope: RGCI is providing Project Management services for the new construction of a full replacement of Mark White Elementary School. This new 21st Century facility will accommodate 750 students.

Westbury High School
Scope: RGCI is providing Project Management services for the partial replacement and general renovation of Westbury High School. This facility will accommodate 2,300 – 2,500 students.

Wilson Montessori K-8
Scope: RGCI is providing Project Management services for the new addition and general renovations of Wilson Montessori K-8. This new addition will increase the total occupancy to 750-900 students.

Grady Middle School, Phase II
Scope: RGCI is providing Project Management services for the Phase II replacement of Grady Middle School. This facility consists of a 69,766 square feet two-story building containing classrooms, library, cafeteria and kitchen, and administrative offices.

High School for Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA)
Scope: RGCI is providing Project Management services for the new construction of HISD’s own HSPVA. The RGCI Project Team is currently working to acquire LEED Silver Certification for this new, state-of-the-art high school. The project includes two levels of underground parking to accommodate staff and students. The largest project element for this building is the main theatre with a 3½-story seating area and a 5-story high fly loft. This project will also include a recital hall, black box theatre, and mini theatre. The project will also include 20 learning centers which includes, 3 wet labs, one large gallery, woodworking lab, ceramics lab, printmaking lab, multi-purpose lab, digital photography learning center, band/orchestra learning center, jazz learning center, choir learning center, large ensemble learning center, voice/hand bells learning center, dance studio, and tap dance studio. The project will also include an 800 seat auditorium, administrative suites, and food service facilities.

Mickey Leland Preparatory Academy for Young Men
Scope: RGCI is providing Project Management services for the new construction of Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy. This new facility will accommodate 900 to 1,000 students.

Sharpstown International High School
Scope: RGCI is providing Project Management services for the renovations to the existing Sharpstown International High School including site improvements.

Waltrip High School
Scope: RGCI is providing Project Management services for the partial replacement and general renovations to Waltrip High School to accommodate 1,800 to 2,000 students.
