Tanglewood Middle School Celebrates Opening!

Tanglewood Middle School

Formerly known as Grady Middle School, Tanglewood Middle School is one of the first projects to be completed under the Houston Independent School District’s 2012 Bond Program. Recently, the Tanglewood Middle School community celebrated a new addition of their school and the renaming of their campus. The new addition now accommodates 850 students and features 24 classrooms, six science labs, six learning commons, and three administrative suites.

Rice & Gardner was selected as one of the Program Management teams for the 2012 Houston Independent School District (HISD) Facilities Bond Program with a program budget of $1.9 billion.

On February 8, 2016, Tanglewood Middle School was the first official school to be delivered to HISD. Thanks to Rice & Gardner Senior Project Manager, Spencer Wingate, and Construction Manager Kelly Snook, this 69,766 SF, 21st century learning environment was completed with the efforts of our project team which included Natex Architects and DivisionOne as the CMAR. Jim Rice, Program Director, and Robert Barrera, Program Deputy, currently leads the Rice & Gardner Program Management for the HISD 2012 Facilities Bond Program.

Tanglewood Middle School exemplifies the planning and design of the bond program which aims to integrate innovative strategies and designs to impact student achievement.
